Important Reminders for Filming

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR FILMSTUDIES STUDENTS 

·     Signing out a camerameans signing a contract that assumes professional competency in safe andresponsible handling of equipment. This includes the tri-pod, the firewire, thetape, the camera bag and anything else you borrow from the class. You should beable to identify basic video equipment, such as the lens, the mic, the filmcompartment. You must be able to demonstrate basic recording and play backmethods.

 

·     Demonstrate:

-      proper use of  the lanyard at all times

-      gentle loading and unloading tape, tape down open circles in.

-      speaking to the microphone

-      gently using tripod to  tilt up/down and pan left and right

-      zooming in and out(remember this is campy – don’t get trigger happy)

 

·     Film a few secondsbefore the shot you want and a few seconds after the shot you wants so yourediting looks smooth.

 

·     When you are donefilming upload your footage from the camera to the hard drive. You must save itto the shared users folders. YOU WILL ALWAYS use that computer for theremainder of the project, so check the number.

 

·     All Audio, graphics,visuals, texts and work done must be appropriate for the school environment oryou will lose tech extended privileges.

 

·     You are free to film anywhere on the school property for the allotted time slot. You must tell mewhere you are going to be and you must be back at the required time (usually 10minutes before the end of class). You must also follow all school rules (and begentle with the camera). If you are caught up in any messy business, don’t comeback to class at a reasonable time or hurt the camera in anyway you will beforced to do all other filming projects in my classroom.

 

·     Respect the learningenvironment of all the other classes in the school.
