Explorations in Film Journal Assignment

"You're gonna love this"

As a part of our explorations in film program you are required to view and analyze a feature length film and respond it them in an Explorations in Film Journal format.

Your journal entry must address the following criteria:

1. The Story: Identify the film and write a very brief plot synopsis that includes the ending of the story. Include key character names, locations and plot points.

/5

2. The Event: When and where did you view the production, who did you share the experience with, what did you eat/drink during the show, etc. and how did this impact your experience with it?

/5

3. The Message/Lesson: What do you believe was the message or lesson behind the production of this film? What might have been the purpose in making this film, besides to make money? Does the movie speak to the human experience?

/5

4. Film Lesson: One thing you learned from the film that you hope to use as a film maker yourself. (This could be a style of shooting, means of lighting, use of colour, music, framing scenes, etc.) . Express how and why you could use this in a personal project.

/5

5. Artifact: Finally you need to create an artifact that is a symbol of the movie you watched. You want to design and create something that expresses the culture of the film, the message of the film, the symbolism behind the film. The big thing here is... be creative.

A journal entry needs to reflect you and should not be overly time consuming~ Be critical and creative.
